Ai Tin Sumartini Mengubah Metode Belajar PPKn Jadi Mata Pelajaran Menarik Penuh Kreativitas

PIKIRAN-RAKYAT.COM — KIPRAH Ai Tin Sumartini (47), guru mata pelajaran Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) di SMP Negeri 5 Tasikmalaya memang patut mendapat apresiasi. Mata pelajaran yang identik dengan rasa ngantuk siswa karena bosan mendengarkan monolog guru di depan kelas tersebut justru diubah Ai melalui metode belajar yang menyenangkan dan menarik.

Siswa bukan sekadar dicekoki rumus dan hapalan pelajaran. Ai membawa para muridnya turun langsung melihat berbagai permasalahan sosial di masyarakat serta menganalisisnya. Metode partisipatif macam itu yang membuat pelajaran tentang Pancasila bukan hanya doktrin di kelas serta kehilangan konteks dan fungsinya bagi masyarakat.

Atas kiprahnya tersebut, Ai masuk dan ditetapkan dalam 74 Ikon Apresiasi Prestasi Pancasila oleh Badan Pembinaan Ideologi Pancasila. Ingatan Ai terantuk pada peristiwa yang terjadi 2006 lalu. Ai dan lima muridnya kena usir hakim dari ruang sidang Pengadilan Negeri Tasikmalaya. Musababnya, mereka mengambil gambar saat persidangan berlangsung untuk kepentingan pembelajaran di kelas.

Padahal, Ai dan anak didiknya telah mendapatkan izin dari panitera dan ketua pengadilan negeri untuk mengambil gambar dan mencatat rangkaian persidangan. Rupanya, sang hakim pun tak mengetahui ihwal kehadiran ai dan para murid. “Akhirnya saya minta maaf,” ujar Ai di ruang guru SMP Negeri 5, Jalan RE Martadinata No 85, Kota Tasikmalaya, Kamis, 15 Agustus 2019.

Esoknya, hakim itu datang ke sekolah dan balik meminta maaf atas ketidaktahuannya. Demikianlah risiko yang mesti dialami Ai saat berinovasi mencoba pola atau metode pembelajaran yang inovatif di kelasnya.

Dalam mata pelajaran PPKn, terdapat pokok bahasan tentang hukum nasional dan perlindungan hukum yang tertuang kurikulum waktu itu. Ketimbang bermonolog di ruang kelas terkait materi tersebut, Ai justru menginginkan para murid merasakan langsung bagaimana situasi persidangan.

Siswa bukan cuma menghapalkannya dalam buku teks pelajaran serta mendengar omongan guru. Ia kemudian menyusun rencana pembelajaran serta melakukan simulasi persidangan di kelas. Sebelum mulai menjajalnya, murid dibawa ke pengadilan untuk mencatat dan mendokumentasikan persidangan.

Upaya itu tak sia-sia. Murid bisa merasakan bagaimana proses perkara hukum di pengadilan melalui simulasi di ruang kelas. Siswa dibagi dalam kelompok dan diberi peran sebagai hakim, saksi, jaksa dengan pilihan perkara perdata atau pidana.

Bagi Ai, metode itu lebih efektif bagi siswa dalam penerapan pelajaran PPKN. “Anak mengalami sendiri (punya pengalaman) dan daya ingat akan lebih lama,” ujar guru lulusan IKIP Bandung tersebut.

Demikian pula ketika murid mendapat materi permasalahan sosial dan budaya dalam PPKn. Siswa tak hanya berkutat dengan teori sosial budaya dan permasalahan masyarakat di ruang kelas. Ai membuka pintu para siswa untuk melakukan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi terkait beragam permasalahan sosial di luar sekolah yang mereka pilih dan identifikasi. “Mereka berani ke inabah (tempat rehabilitasi pecandu Narkoba Pesantren Suryalaya), mereka datang ke sana mewawancarai pasien, pengelola sampai divideokan,” ujarnya.

Ada juga beberapa siswa yang mendatangi tempat penampungan penderita gangguan jiwa di Cilembang. Hasil observasi dan wawancara tersebut dipresentasikan oleh setiap kelompok di siswa di kelas dalam bentuk video atau semacam film pendek.

Ketika menyuguhkan materi permainan tradisional, Ai menyulap ruang kelas sebagai arena permainan lama seperti boy-boyan atau enggrang. Murid menunjukkan kemampuan memainkan dan menuliskan aturan permainannya. Selain manfaat positif berupa daya ingat lebih lama dan munculnya kemampuan menemukan plus menyelesaikan masalah sendiri, siswa juga belajar membangun kerjasama sera toleransi dalam kelompok-kelompok yang dibentuk Ai.

Baginya, ukuran prestasi siswa yang mendapat pelajaran PPKn tidak hanya nilai ujian yang tinggi. Lebih dari itu, perubahan sikap siswa yang lebih disiplin serta memiilki keterampilan merupakan indikator hasil penerapan pelajaran. 

Tak pelak, persoalan salah benar siswa menjawab pekerjaan rumah tak teramat penting bagi Ai. Hal yang penting adalah saat siswa mau mengerjakannya sebagai bentuk kedisiplinan.

Berbagai metode pembelajaran yang kreatif membuahkan berbagai penghargaan. Perempuan kelahiran Garut itu sempat meraih sejumlah penghargaan di tingkat provinsi dan nasional. Beberapa penghargaan tersebut yakni tanda kehormatan Satyalancana Pendidikan dari Presiden Joko Widodo pada 2019, pemenang 1 Lomba Karya Inovasi Pembelajaran Pendidikan Dasar kategori IPS Bahasa SMP 2016, juara 1 Anugerah Konstitusi bagi guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan berprestasi tingkat nasional jenjang SMP/MTs 2016, juara 1 lomba pemilihan guru dan tenaga kependidikan berprestasi dan berdedikasi kategori pemilihan guru SMP berkonstitusi tingkat Provinsi Jabar 2016. 

Ai juga menulis buku berjudul, Bangkitkan Kembali Semangat Nasionalisme di Era Globalisasi serta salah satu penyusun dan penulis buku Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan yang dipakai rujukan belajar siswa secara nasional. Jerih payah Ai diganjar penghargaan sebagai ikon Apresiasi Prestasi Pancasila yang ditetapkan oleh Plt Kepala Badan Pembinaan Ideologi Pancasila Hariyono pada 12 Agustus 2019.

Sebagai salah satu ikon, Ai bakal bertugas menyosialisasikan nilai-nilai pancasila guna menjadi sumber inspirasi kepada masyarakat untuk mengharumkan nama bangsa Indonesia di kalangan masyarakat dunia.***
