Pasca lulus dari PKn UPI sempat mengajar di SMP dan SMA Plus Al-Ghifari Bandung selama dua tahun (2000-2002). Selanjutnya mulai 2002 sampai sekarang ia mengabdikan diri mengajar di Indonesian School of Bangkok (SIB) Thailand dan berdomisili di Bangkok.
Dialah Muhamad Soleh atau lebih dikenal dengan sebutan M. Pria muda asli kelahiran Bogor, 27 Desember 1976. Ia tercatat sebagai alumni PKn angkatan 1995.  Awalnya ia terkenal di kelas angkatan 95 dengan panggilan “M” saya pun sering memanggilnya M. Begitu pula teman lainnya.  Ada cerita lucu kenapa dipanggil M. Konon pada waktu kuliah pertama tidak ada nama Muhamad Soleh di daftar kehadiran. Setiap dosen bertanya dalam bahasa Sunda, “Saha namina?” maka dijawab,”M. Soleh”. Akhirnya Muhamad Soleh lebih dikenal dengan si “M”.
Selama setahun saya sempat satu kamar bareng kost di daerah Babakan, Ledeng. Sosoknya ramah dan ringan tangan. Selain itu yang masih saya ingat sampai sekarang adalah ia rajin ke mesjid untuk melaksanakan sholat berjamaah di masjid tempat kost.
Saat menjalani kuliah pada departemen PKn UPI,  M pernah menjabat sebagai Ketua Umum HMCH FPIPS UPI periode 1996-1997, Sekretaris Umum Senat Mahasiswa FPIPS UPI (1997-1998) dan terakhir Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa UPI. Selain itu aktif juga dalam kegiatan di Asrama Mahasiswa UPI karena di akhir studinya dia tinggal di Asrama Putra UPI.
Di Sekolah Indonesia Bangkok (SIB), M mengajar beberapa mata pelajaran. 
“Selain mengajar civics education, di sini saya juga mengajar Sociology for Senior High School, Social Studies (Economics, Geography, History) for Junior to Senior High School,  Information and Communication Technology for Junior to Senior High School, Web Master for School Website, Computer Literate dan Photography Literate. Pokoknya saya borongan mengajarnya,” ujar lelaki yang doyan mie ayam itu.
Kini di Bangkok ia juga turut aktif bersama  teman-temannya membentuk grup sepeda dengan nama Indonesian Fun Biker Club (IFBC).  “Di klub ini saya sering touring jauh, terakhir saya berdua dengan guru sejarah SIB  touring ke perbatasan Kamboja Thailand sekitar 230 KM,” tuturnya.
Kegiatan lainnya yang biasa ia ikuti adalah bermain keroncong dengan guru-guru dan teman-teman staf KBRI namanya Micron (atau mirip keroncong). Terkadang pula gareloan dalam seni bahkan menari.

Namun, M tetap tidak melupakan untuk terlibat di bidang keagamaan. M ikut di Majelis Taklim KBRI Bangkok dan Masyarakat Muslim Indonesia di Thailand (MMIT) dan ia juga terlibat untuk menjalin hubungan dengan masjid-masjid yang pernah dibangun oleh orang Indonesia seperti masjid Jawa dan masjid Indonesia, ada juga masjid Makkasan dan Bayan.

“Semua aktivitas di luar mengajar saya lakukan agar saya tidak merasa jenuh di sini,” papar pria berkacamata tersebut.

Berbicara kesejahteraan guru Indonesia yang ada di luar negeri khususnya di SIB, M bercerita bahwa kesejahteraan mereka sepertinya tidak lebih baik dari Guru PNS yang ada di Indonesia. “Kalau guru PNS masih ada sisa untuk menabung (gaji disini untuk ditabung), tetapi kalau disini seperti saya guru honorer, Alhamdulillah cukup untuk biaya hidup dan sedikit untuk setahun sekali bisa pulang kampung,” ungkapnya sembari tersenyum.

Kemudian ia menyarankan jika ada alumni PKn UPI yang ingin mengajar di Sekolah Indonesia di Luar Negeri (SILN) maka lebih baik yang berstatus PNS, karena kebijakan sekarang guru PNS gajinya masih mengalir di Indonesia, sertifikatikasi  masih jalan, plus tambahan di Bangkok juga. 

“Jadinya  seperti tambahan gaji 2x lipat dengan disini,” tandas suami dari Tini dan ayah Salsabila ini. Masih menurut M kalau guru honorer dengan single fighter—-hanya seorang yang mencari nafkah, atau istri sebagai ibu rumah tangga, ya alhamdulillah cukup saja.

“Jangankan rumah bayar sendiri, visa saja untuk stay permit kami bayar sendiri. Semua mandiri, tetapi disini ada asuransi terbatas hanya untuk IPD/rawat jalan dan kecelakaan. Kalau penyakit yang memerlukan biaya terus menerus seperti hemodyalisis masih ditanggung sendiri,” ujarnya.
Terakhir M juga memberi saran kepada calon guru non–PNS yang akan mengajar di SILN agar jangan terlalu lama. Mengapa? Karena tidak akan menjamin masa depan sebagai PNS. “Pulang aja kembali seperti guru honorer lagi, kecuali ingin mengabdikan dirinya untuk dunia pendidikan, tanpa memikirkan masa depan sebagai PNS,” pungkasnya.
