Satu lagi dosen PKn UPI berhasil meraih karier akademik tertinggi. Dialah Prof. Dr. H. Sapriya, M.Ed. yang asli kelahiran Sumedang pada 20 Agustus 1963. Lelaki paruh baya tersebut, saat saya menjelang lulus tahun 2000 menjabat Ketua Jurusan PKn. Sosoknya ramah, pintar dan bersahaja. Ciri khasnya berkacamata cukup tebal karena memang gemar membaca. Pak Prof. Sapriya dikukuhkan sebagai guru besar pada Bidang Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan. Ia menyampaikan pidato pengukuhannya pada Kamis 26 April 2012 di Gedung Pertemua UPI dengan judul “Memperkokoh Posisi Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan Sebagai Disiplin Ilmu Terintegrasi”.

Beliau salah satu dosen PKn yang sempat mengenyam pendidikan di luar negeri. Pada jenjang magister-nya menempuh pendidikan di School of Education, La Trobe University Melbourne, Australia. Sempat pula memperdalam pendidikan kewarganegaraan National Academy on Political and Democratic Theory, di Loyola Marrymount University, Los Angeles, CA, USA.

Selama saya kuliah sekira tahun 1997, suami dari Dra. Nyi Rd. Dewi Kurniaty mengampu mata kuliah Perencanaan Pembelajaran PKn, Pendidikan IPS, Hukum Internasional, dan Konsep Dasar PKn. Saat menyampaikan kuliahnya saya termasuk yang antusias mengikutinya karena wawasannya luas, mudah dipahami dan selalu menggelorakan semangat untuk sukses. Kini beliau pun mendapat amanah sebagai Ketua Prodi Magister dan Doktor PKn SPs UPI dan dalam organisasi profesi menjabat Sekretaris Jenderal Asosiasi Profesi Pendidikan Kewarganegaran Indonesia (AP3KnI), Sekjen Center for Education, Human Rights, and Environment (CEHRE), Anggota Himpunan Sarjana Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial Indonesia (HISPISI), dan Ketua Pusat Pengkajian Pendidikan Konstitusi Jurusan PKn FPIPS Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.


Selamat Prof. Sapriya atas capaian prestasinya yang luar biasa. Saya selaku alumni PKn UPI merasa turut bersyukur dan banggga.
